The 2019 FIFA World Cup France is here and it promises to be a fantastic tournament. Oh wait, did I say it’s the Women’s World Cup? Well, it is and that makes it fabulous, especially for North America. That’s because both the US and Canadian teams are dynamite and are heavy favorites to go deep into the tournament. In fact, since the first women’s World Cup Soccer event in 1991, the US has won three of them and is absolutely among the favorites again in 2019.

The format is a little different than the men’s in that there are fewer teams. However, they do the same group play, beginning on June 7th, with France taking on the Korea Republic in traditional home team opener. That is followed by 35 more games with six groups each playing three games to qualify finishing on June 20th. Then comes the knockout phase, where you win, you play on! They play round of 16 beginning on June 22nd and quarters starting on June 27th.  The semis are on July 2nd and 3rd and the finals round out in Paris on July 7th.

You will be surprised by the zeal that women’s soccer fans will show during the tournament and you can market it, just as well as you can market the men’s version. The times are midday and early afternoon, which makes a bonus for your lunch periods across most time zones.
